Mystic Valley YMCA
The YMCA's Mystic Community Market in Medford has volunteer opportunities available! This is a great way to work hands-on to feed people in need in our community. Join us to help with assisting shoppers, stocking shelves, and unloading deliveries. There is some lifting required for any volunteer position in this program - Thursdays and Fridays are delivery days and require more lifting than other days. Please note: the online shift selection and scheduling features are NOT in use at this time. Greater Boston Food Bank
The Mystic Valley YMCA opened the Mystic Community Market in February 2020 in partnership with The Greater Boston Food Bank. This is a best-in-class food distribution center that places an emphasis on nutrition and community health. The Y is committed to helping end hunger in our community (Medford, Malden and Everett) by 2028 in partnership with The Greater Boston Food Bank. Each week hundreds of residents of Medford, Malden, Everett and surrounding cities receive fresh produce, shelf-stable items, lean protein, and dairy. The market, designed to look like a traditional grocery store, is available for appointment-based grocery pickups six days a week, and available for walk in grocery pickups five days a week. Mystic Community Market is one of 3 free food markets operated by the Y which together received and distributed over 2.9 million pounds of food in the past year.
